Do I need planning permission?
Planning is a complex area, especially in a National Park. The law states that planning permission is needed only if the work being carried out meets the statutory definition of ‘development’.
Some building works and changes of use can be carried out under ‘Permitted Development Rights’, without having to make an application for planning permission.
If you are intending to carry out development work, it’s important for Planning Officers to have all the information they need to be able to provide the correct advice.
Please fill out and return a Do I Need Planning Permission (DINPP) form to the relevant authority who deals with planning in your area of the South Downs National Park.
Please note that as of 1 October DINPPs will be subject to a fee.
